How can a function change global variables - show options

By default the global variables (all variables in main) are accessible in functions - BUT cannot be changed. UNLESS we define the global variables with "global" key word.

Example:

This will work - no updates in function only read.

   print ('now')
x=5

This will not work

def h(y):
   x = x+1
   print (x)
   print ('now')
x=5
h('4')
print (x)

This will work

   global x
   x = x+1
